Hot stuff

I instantly fell in love with this image from The Paper Shelter. Not only is it of one of my favourite things, hot chocolate, but it was a joy to colour. I added Sakura Star dust pen to the steam swirls and pearls around the heart and cup lips. I had never done a monochromatic card before. I have to say I am pleased with the result and will most certainly do so again.

Summer fun in the sun

It has been ridiculously hot out here in Alberta the last few days. Perfect for colouring and keeping cool in the basement. Don't get me wrong, I love the sun, but no breeze really makes for uncomfortable times. I decided to imagine myself at the beach with water near by while creating this cutie designed by Jennifer Nilsson. Check out her blog at the doodle garden.

Die cuts with a view beach paper
Spellbinders Labels 14 die

Just thinking of you

This next beauty is one I created specifically for the Paper Shelter's design team call. This digital image was a must have on my wish list and I could not wait to create something stunning with it. I coloured the image with my copics and added just a touch of shimmer using my Sakura Star Dust pen. The sand was coloured and then a stippling effect was given using the blender pen and some darker shades. I wanted to really give it that grainy look. To finish the card, I found these adorable shell buttons by Jesse James. I think they add just that extra something without going over the top.

Here is a close up on the lovely image all coloured.

I used the following in my creation:
The Paper Shelter's Beautiful Mermaid digital stamp
C.C Designs Amy R's  Be Happy Sentiments stamps
Copics
Sakura Stardust pen
Bo Bunny Barefoot and Bliss 6x6 paper pad

Splish Splash

Today is the day that I start my stint as a design team member of The Doodle Garden. Jennifer Nilsson is an amazing digital stamp artist and has graciously allowed me the opportunity to play with her creations.

For the next two weeks we are having an "Under the Sea Challenge" with some great prizes. Check it out and play along with the Design team Members.

Scrapbook layout-To hold pictures of my little one in the near future.

Close up of the cute digi stamps available at The Doodle Garden Shop.

Today's post  my project features her Little Seahorse Digi. It started as a card but I decided that I really wanted to create a page for our upcoming trip to Prince Edward Island with my daughter. I coloured the image with my copics (YR23, YR24, YR27, Y13, Y15, Y17, B32, B34, B37). I added some shimmer to his fins and spots using a Sakura clear star pen. I created the water using Echo parks Splash 6x6 pad, Bo Bunny Barefoot and Bliss 6x6 pad, and Best creations glitter cardstock. I cut these papers using my decorative scissors to give it a look of waves. I find that regular adhesive doesn't stick well to the glitter paper, so a tip is to use sookwang double sided tape. I cut out flourishes using my Tim Holtz Elegant flourish die to create my seaweed and also cut out letters using his Once Upon a Time die.
