Helping hand update

So previously I wrote about a friend of mine who rescued a dog, Sam, who is in need of knee replacement surgery. I have offered my crafting services to help raise money to support this great cause and will be selling cards at a local craft fair this Saturday. All proceeds go straight to helping Sam. Tonight we had a craft-explosion in my kitchen as we raced to complete a variety of goodies for our sale. I am glad to say I am finished with my contributions. Here are a couple of the cards I have made tonight. I can't decide which colour I like best.

Brayer Backgrounds

Due to me being away on vacation last week, my tutorial for The Stamping Boutique's Paper Craft Planet Group  was postponed. The good news is...this week there will be two wonderful tutorials posted there! Don't forget to check out the current challenge Its all French to me.
Supplies:
-The Stamping Boutique's Two Turtle Doves snowman image
-Rangers glossy paper (4"x6" piece)
-Eclipse masking tape (Post it notes would work too)
-Snowflake punch
-Various waterbased inks
-Brayer
Step 1:
Punch out a number of snowflakes using the snowflake punch and Eclipse tape. (If you are using post it notes make sure to punch only where the sticky part it). Place these punched out shapes on the top two thirds of your 4x6 piece of glossy paper. Tear another piece of Eclipse paper, or post it notes, to create a mask that looks like a mountain and apply along the bottom third of your glossy paper.
Step 2:
Using various inks of the same shade, apply a gradation of them from light to dark (I used blues) to the top two thirds of the glossy paper using the brayer. See image below.
Step 3:
Move the mountain mask down and brayer a different colour of ink onto the exposed part of the glossy paper. Repeat this step using different ink colours until your whole piece of glossy paper is covered. Remove masks and let dry.
Finishing touches:
Voila you have a lovely background to place your image on. I completed my card by colouring my Two Turtle Doves snowman image with Copic Markers, Fussy cutting it out, and popping it off the page. I added some tree stamps and snowflakes punched out of glitter paper to add some bling.

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer

This week over at The Stamping Boutique's challenge blog we are celebrating music. The DT have been creating goodies using any song/music as their inspiration. You can see a great assortment over at the blog and we would love to see you enter for your chance to win some great prizes from our sponsors.

This week I used Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer as my inspiration. I thought it went so nicely with the Stamping Boutique's Santa and his reindeer image. However, once I got colouring I realized something...Rudolph must have been taking a coffee break because he is missing. Oh well.
